Yes, okay, no, I know, this blog hasn't been really used at all for a month now and hardly this year, and you thought it was all over, but I'm STILL HERE!
I truly have no excuses, but here, look at this adorable picture of a puppy!

Okay so some of you still might be dubious... Forgive me?
Yes, I am shamelessly attempting to corrupt you with puppy pictures!!Other than that, it is my blogoversary - two years! Yippee! - which feels a bit like a non-event in light of the present circumstances... *coughs* I'm really sorry for letting you guys down!
Well I have been thinking about blogging A LOT for the past few weeks (months?). I used to love blogging and would trade sleep hours and chocolate snacks in a heartbeat to post articles, but over the course of 2011 I lost the motivation and will to blog.
Part of it was the general atmosphere of blogging which felt more like an obligation as opposed to doing it for the pleasure and part of it was my new job working in a publishing company where I felt like I was working on the other side of the curtain (which, as it happens, is a Wizard of Oz reference not a household furniture metaphor).
But these past few weeks, I've realised that I actually miss blogging. I miss the endless discussions about books (which I am obviously having in real life with real people (shocker!) but still). I miss doing my special theme weeks and I miss spotlighting lesser known authors/genres. I loved doing both my Lesbian Teen Novels and Japanese YA Novels weeks and still now, I get a hundred of hits a day on my Lesbian Teen Novels articles, which makes me think that those theme weeks are of some use or interest to someone somewhere. These past couple of weeks I've read absolutely wonderful novels, some were feisty adventures, others were eye-openers and I will probably keep the stories with me for a while. And I want to talk about these stories, these characters, these ideas in those books. I hadn't realised that giving up blogging was also giving up all those things I loved doing. And I really don't want to do that, so I am going to try to have a bit more organisation and post articles semi-regularly. Posting several times a week on my own just doesn't seem possible (especially since I unilaterally and for no rational reason whatsoever decided to learn Japanese and that I will have homework (HOMEWORK!!) for the first time in three years) (well it did sound like a good idea at the time when I said "I am learning Japanese" in front of my mirror while doing some badass karate moves but that's off subject), but I will try weekly updates at the very least!
Okay so I'll try being a bit more organised than that. Fine.I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and I wish you all the very best for 2012 (and that includes fabulous books - of course)!
Talk soon :)
Caroline x
